Based in the South Bay of L.A., Habit Design Collective is a collaboration between friends, Taylor Sinnard and Jamie Kleine whose combined expertise in architecture, residential design, and project management forms the foundation of their practice. Whether a new ground-up, addition or renovation project, our objective is to create spaces that elevate quality of life and foster well-being. We believe a home should be a sanctuary that speaks specifically to those who inhabit it, and we aim to develop that unique language through thoughtful design. It’s in the refined details and craftsmanship that we can forge meaningful connections to our environment and enrich our daily experiences.
Our approach is both highly collaborative and adaptive, in constant dialogue with clients, consultants, builders and tradespeople throughout the entirety of a project. We are committed to being an advocate for our clients from the initial schematic phase through construction, taking great care throughout the design process to ensure the project is feasible within budget and schedule constraints. We believe that transparency and communication are critical to delivering a superior project experience and exceptional final result.
Our work is rooted in the core values of authenticity, clarity and longevity.
Beginning with a deep understanding of our clients’ needs and how they want to live and grow with their families, we strive to create spaces that genuinely reflect their unique perspectives. Each home tells a story, grounded in the distinct characteristics of its inhabitants and environment. Through site analysis, we carefully consider each project’s sense of physical place and cultural context. This allows us to optimize relationships between interior space and natural light, views to the surrounding landscape and circulation flow. In renovations and restorations with a true historic style, we aim to honor and preserve the original character of the home while designing to a modern life.
Functionality is paramount and we believe that clear concepts with purpose are inherently elegant in their simplicity. Every element is carefully considered to ensure it serves a meaningful role, both aesthetic and pragmatic. With an affinity for simple, clean lines, we find that natural materials and organic textures add warmth and an enduring quality that will last and remain relevant over time. The longevity of a home is critical to not only our client’s investment but key to building sustainably within our communities.
Our intention is always to create a meaningful space for you to live well and spend more time doing what you love.
Taylor is a USC School of Architecture graduate, skilled in residential architecture and design, with a keen focus on project management and meticulous attention to detailing. His past roles in the commercial field at CBRE, Wolcott and as an Architectural Design manager at Disney has allow him to carry that experience of organization and smart decision-making over to the expectations of highly personalized residential design.
“Bringing personalized designs to life is a deeply gratifying experience, driven by a thoughtful approach at every junction of a project. Carefully designing every detail and its intended purpose ensures a unique, high-quality result that I hope truly resonates with everyone I get the opportunity to help. I recognize the importance of collaboration as an essential piece in creating exceptional spaces, as it brings together diverse perspectives and expertise. The synergy between all the people involved in building a space transforms ideas into tangible, extraordinary realities.”
Jamie is an architectural designer with a focus in custom residential beginning in 2011. She went on to receive her Master of Architecture from UCLA and continued working on ground-up custom homes with notable firms like Woods + Dangaran and Montalba Architects.
“My love for residential design is in the challenge to establish our clients’ personal connection to the space which makes every project completely unique and bespoke to them. I believe that true collaboration between client and designer is what elevates the work and pushes us to think through new perspectives beyond our own. This is how we continue to learn and evolve as designers and I value that relationship in every project.”
